Cromwell's Sorrow

Performance on 21 June 2008 in the Musée des Beaux Arts, Nimes as part of Fete de la Musique.
Cromwell's Sorrow is an arrangement and variations of Purcell's Funeral Music for Violin, Viola and Double Bass, performed by the Ensemble Scratch the Surface. The piece was co-commissioned by the Musée des Beaux Arts in Nimes and the curator Peter Seddon, University of Brighton. The curatorial project "Tête-à-Tête" was a critical and musical reflection on Paul Delaroche's painting Cromwell and Charles I from 1831 .
